Retreats afford us the opportunity to learn something new, renew our relationship with God, and refresh our minds and souls. We offer several retreats throughout the year and hope you might join us.
In the winter, the men head to the Poconos Mountains for a weekend of fellowship, sharing, and good eating. After the sessions, there is plenty of time to enjoy the local activities!
Sandy cove 2018
You invest a lot of time and energy into your families, churches, communities and work…retreat from the daily routine and set aside some time to recharge emotionally and spiritually. Enjoy a weekend away with your girlfriends…laughter and worship and relaxing and talking!
We had a meaningful retreat at Sandy Cove in September 2018. Great sessions, fun activities, and warm fellowship. We hope you join us next year!
We also offer retreats for our youth in Middle School and High School. Last year we attended the Salt and Light Retreat where our students attended worship, participate in workshops, and have a whole lot of fun. For more information about upcoming youth retreats you can visit our youth page.
holy cross retreat
Thompson partners with the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown, NJ and heads to Holy Cross Monastery twice a year, usually in May and November, for a four-day retreat. Come and join a group of friends from a number of churches for time away from the rush of daily life. Enter into the life of the Holy Cross Monastery through worship, tradition, and daily living. This three-night, four-day, retreat affords the time to step away from the regular demands of our lives and to enjoy a place of rest and welcome. Located on a bluff on the western bank of the Hudson River in New York State, Holy Cross Monastery is a Benedictine place of prayer of the Episcopal Church. The monks graciously welcome all who come. The monastery is a lovely setting with comfortable private rooms and simple yet exquisite meals. We join the monks in their five offices of prayer throughout the day. In the evening, starting at 9:00 pm, we are invited to participate in the Greater Silence, a time for silence that continues until the Eucharist the next day.
The fall retreat will be held November 27-30, 2018. Pastor Stuart Spencer will lead the group in exploring spiritual practices for the living of daily life based on Liturgy of the Ordinary by Tish Harrison Warren (books will be provided). The group will meet for sessions in the morning and evening each day where we will learn, share, and pray. The days of the Prayer Retreat afford plenty of time for personal prayer, meditation, conversations, reflection, exploring, hiking, and enjoying a cup of coffee.
